Last Cookie for The Demon’s Covenant!

Today is the tenth of the month, which means that over on her blog, Sarah Rees Brennan has posted another cookie for her upcoming release The Demon’s Covenant – the LAST cookie! Why? Because May 18th is publication day!!

Since today was the last sneak peak we get at the book before it hits shelves, Sarah decided to be generous and give us two cookies – one with Alan, and one with Nick!

Glimpse of cookie 1:

“Hello,” her mother said, going for the fridge. Mae waved her coffee cup in greeting and watched as Annabel drew out a packet of lettuce leaves that had turned brown and dispirited.

“Oh dear,” she said. “Thai food all right by you?”

“I’ll be honest: I wasn’t going to eat salad either way.”

Annabel nodded with just a hint of pain. She and Mae had gone back and forth on this a thousand times, and Mae had made it extremely clear that she cared more about eating cheese sandwiches today than being skinny when she was forty. “Is James home? I’ll ask him what he wants.”

Glimpse of cookie 2:

“Do you mean—you’re not scared for yourself. He’d never—”

“I’m not scared of being hurt,” Alan said quietly. “I’m scared of what he’ll do. He could tear himself apart or tear the world apart, and next to those two choices what happens to
me doesn’t matter at all.”

“Hey,” Mae said sharply, and reached out and touched the hand that hung by his side. “It matters.”

He gave her a beautiful smile then, brilliant and surprised, which broke her heart a little because nobody should look startled that there was someone in the world who cared if they lived or died.

New Cookie for The Demon’s Covenant!

Sarah Rees Brennan, author of the awesome book The Demon’s Lexicon, has given us another cookie for the upcoming sequel, The Demon’s Covenant.

The Demon’s Covenant is told from Mae’s point of view, unlike the first book which was told from Nick’s. The best part of this, besides getting to know another character really well? We get to see all the other characters through their eyes. It’s going to be wicked getting another view of Alan, Jaime and Nick (not to mention Sin, Liannan and everyone else). The cookie focuses mainly on Alan, who is such an intriguing character. This sneak peak into the next book was like a little slice of awesomeness. Also, we get a hint of the make-out scene (!!): The Demon’s Covenant – February Cookie.

Go! Enjoy! And drop Sarah a line telling her how much you just can’t wait for May 18th!

Cookie for The Demon’s Covenant!

So, I don’t think I’ve really mentioned on here how much I love The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan (what’s that? I haven’t even written up my review yet? Shame!…I’ll get on that. I promise), but I do. I love it like I love chocolate cake (which is a lot).

As today is the same day last year that Sarah gave us a cookie of The Demon’s Lexicon, today she gives us a cookie from The Demon’s Covenant – that features Nick!! Be warned, there are MAJOR spoilers for Lexicon, so if you haven’t already read it, but plan to, you might want to avoid the cookie.

Sarah’s Christmas Cookie. This has just made me even MORE impatient for Covenant to be published =D

Honest Scrap Award

Jazz from About Books Blog has awarded me the Honest Scrap Award; thank you so much Jazz!!

The rules are simple: You need to list ten honest things about youself, and then pass the award on to ten other honest bloggers.

1. My life has been heading in one direction since I was five. Now, I’m not so sure it’s the right direction.
2. I’m afraid of bees, tornados and vaccines. Odd, I know.
3. I love fashion, but I’m perfectly comfortable spending most of my time in sweat pants and hoodies.
4. I have an extremely guilty conscience. It can be annoying sometimes.
5. I actually miss school! I can’t wait to go back to uni for my second degree.
6. Even though I love baking (and may go to school for it), I rarely eat anything I make. I’ll taste it, of course, but I’m not actually that big of a sweets fan.
7. My music tastes are very eclectic. I’m perfectly happy to listen to Eminem, Rascal Flatts, Chopin, Lady GaGa, JPop, French Rap, Bon Jovi, Aqua, David Guetta, etc. all in one play list.
8. I often find myself talking to my computer – especially when it’s not behaving!
9. I played flute and clarinet for six years, but stopped when I went away to university. I shouldn’t have.
10. I’ve actually been blogging since 2003, but have only had my book blog for three months! I should have thought of this years ago.

I’ll be passing this award on to the following ten bloggers:

Bart’s Bookshelf
Book Chick City
Froggaritaville’s Bookcase
Mindful Musings: A Book Blog
Misfit Salon
Parajunkee’s View
The Crowded Leaf

The Arundel Tomb by Sarah Rees Brennan

The author of The Demon’s Lexicon, Sarah Rees Brennan, has a blog that I follow faithfully. Found on livejournal – Sarahtales – you should all run, not walk, to read her updates. Sarah’s blog writing is both absolutely hilarious and yet serious at the same time. And of course, you should check out The Demon’s Lexicon if you haven’t already (proper review to follow later tonight or tomorrow).

In her latest post, Sarah mentions her new idea of releasing a short story each week that sales of The Demon’s Lexicon reach a certain number. This week, her short story is The Arundel Tomb and it’s brilliant. It focuses on characters from, and mentioned in, The Demon’s Lexicon – but it’s not necessary to have read the book to enjoy the short story. If you’ve yet to read anything by Sarah Rees Brennan, this short story would be a good way to introduce yourself to her writing style. Give it a try, you might just like it =)
